Europe tour 2010 . AKA, the best 3 weeks you could possibly have. :)

this blog is one of travelling (all up) 80 hours on a bus, 7 different countries, 68 exchange students and more!

Day 1, Malmö, Sweden to Berlin, Germany

I got to Malmö the day before on a train trip by myself where i could not stop smiling. I knew the next 17 days where going to be full of the best experiences, jokes and people i could think of. :)

We started off with the chaperons talking to us about rules ect... then we loaded all our luggage into the trailer and started our adventure. :)

Now, i must say. The bus we where on was a good bus! and i think even though the time on the bus was mostly boring and not entertaining. It was still nice just to sit next to someone for many hours and talk and talk and talk.

We took the ferry from Denmark to Germany then bus to the hostel. We went out and had a traditional German dinner, aka, sausage. Very very good sausage! :) We didnt do anything that night, just got to know everyone, played cards and talked a bunch.

Yumm German food.

Day 2, Berlin.
Berlin is one beautiful city. I would mind living there acctually.
So! When we where in Berlin we where driven around the city and shown checkpoint charlie and the berlin wall. After our tour of the town, Alex(from my district back home) and i where meeting with Flo, our friend from berlin who did exchange in our district in Australia. He showed us around and it was so nice to catch up with him. We sat infront of the Berlin gates having some Starbucks because it was soooo hot!
My favourite place in Berlin was definatly this art building Flo took us to. There was graffitie art all over the walls and in different rooms in the building there was different exibitions, mostly free to look at. It was a beautiful place and great to look at.
That night after dinner we went back into the city and met flo again. He took us to a place we like to call 'the riverside' :) it was simply a bar by the river. There was fire works and music. It was a great night.

Me at the Berlin Wall
Day 3, Berlin to Kraków, Poland.
7 hour bus ride today :) Joy! :)
We watched a movie based on the place we would soon visit. A place called auschwitz (Nazi death camp) in Poland. This would definitely be a experience for all of us. It was tough to be at this dreadful place but it was all over soon enough. That night we had a traditional Jewish dinner accomanied by a musical trio playing some Jewish music for us.

Day 4, Kraków
This day started off with a walking tour of the city and may i say, Kraków is such a beautiful city! There is gorgeous and historic buildings everywhere. It is truly breathtaking. We had lunch by ourselves which for me consisted of some type of bread and ice cream and then went shopping and looking around the city central. In the afternoon we had a guided tour of the death camp. That night i sat in a room with some friends and watched disney movies :)
ROLERCOSTER BUILDINGS!!! :)

Day 5, Krakow to Prague, Czech republic.
SO! PRAHA BABY! We stayed in the biggest hotel in europe! And boy it was massive! We didnt exactly do much this day... We where stuck in the bus all day...

Day 6, Prague (Praha)
Prague is absolutly amazing! The Hills, the river, the buildings! It is all so cool! In the morning we had a 3 hour walking tour of the city. It was foggy, but very hot. Oh so many orange and white buildings here. After we had our walk around the city we where free to do what we wanted. That night we had a dinner cruise. That was so much fun! We ate and then ended up all going out back talking and singing and yelling
AUSSIE AUSSIE AUSSIE! OI OI OI!
That night the chaperons took us out to a 5 story club/disco. Oh! So much fun! we danced all night! We got home at around 2 or 3 so my Canadian friend and i decided to stay awake. we didnt want to sleep so we ended up watching the sunrise over Prague. Absolutely amazing moment that was.

Day 7, Prague to Zell am see, Austria.

This was the day we journeyed to the beautiful mountain country of Austria. We had a stop for lunch in a place called Salsburg, the birth place of Mozart and also where the sound of music was filmed. We walked down some of the famous streets and had ice cream. We had to get back on the bus to go to our destination and when we got there we where greated with a beautiful Austrian hotel with flowers hanging from the window sills and brown and white paint, exactly how i emagined it. We all went to bed early to rest up for the next day where we would litterally climb a mountain...

Austrian cows are hot :) So we kiss them :)

Day 8, Zell am See

This was one of the most toughest physical days whole europe tour. We woke up and had a nice BIG breakfast before leaving on a hike. All up we walked around 6 hours up and down this mountain... But when we where at the top, it was just the best feeling. We came to a small typical Austrian house which was acctually a tiny resturant or snack place. We had some lunch that we had bought with us and some of us also got some apple stroodle from the shop, and i can tell you! It was sooooo damn good! :) We made out way down the hill in the boiling hot sun, got back and straight away went swimming in a lake just down from our hotel that was known for being one of the cleanest lakes because it isn’t aloud to have anything with a motor in the lake. We went swimming in the hot weather even though when we looked up there was snow on the top of the mountains. It was simply amazing. Austria is a very beautiful country and I would defiantly love to go back there.
On the way down the hill, in the background our final destination. SWIMMING!

Day 9, Zell am See to Lido di Jesolo, Italy.

This day we left the beautiful mountains and snow for Italy, flat, green landscapes. We got there late that afternoon and it was sooooo hot! Which was good, seeing as out hotel was just a few minutes walk away from the beach :) So, as soon as we came to the hotel, we ditched our bags and where off to the beach as fast as we could! :) The beach was packed with chairs and umbrellas you can rent out. There was only little wave in the warm water and the sand was nice and soft. That night i had Italian pasta for dinner! Yum!!!!

Day 10, Lido di Jesolo

This day we had free to do whatever we wanted. So, after 10 days of hardly any sleep of coarse I took this chance to catch up on a bit of sleep, being a teenager and all. :) Pretty much all day we just hung out at the beach eating ice cream and drinking milkshakes. That night we setteled with some Italian pizza. Ohhhh YUM!!!!!

Beautiful beach next to our hotel

Day 11, Day visit to Venice

Venice, the sinking city. We took a boat over from Lido to Venice and as soon as I saw Venice I fell in love with the buildings and water. It is exactly what I expected it to be. As soon as we got there we where taken to where the gondolas are and took them around the nice quiet backstreets of Venice. We then got free time to look around the beautiful city and check out all the shops. Of coarse, we got some ice cream and sat down in St Marks square for a while then made our way around looking at the shops and streets of Venice. It was soon time to leave the great city and back to the beach near our hotel to watch the Fifa world cup grand final!

Venice. Beautiful.

Day 12, Lido di Jesolo to Macon, France

This day pretty much just consisted of traveling all day and rain. We where only half was to Paris, our destination, so had a pit stop in this tiny town where we did nothing but sat and talked and watched movies.

Day 13, Macon to Paris, France.

Paris!!! We where finally there. After all that travelling we came to the gorgeous and historical city of Paris that afternoon.  We weren’t in the city we where a bit out so when we got there we just had a walk around then went out for dinner. It was Frances national day the next day so there was a concert on that we went to that night with French singers and bands.

Well Hello there Paris :)

Day 14, Paris (Juliet Quatorce, Frances national day)

This day was our free day in Paris. We got up and had some French breakfast then on the subway into the centre of Paris for the Parade. We watched some of the Parade until it started pouring rain and we looked for the closest form of shelter which was a café where one glass of coke cost 6 euro… Well, we were desperate. When the rain stopped we made our way out and walked around watching the parade and just looking around the beautiful city. We ended up going back to the hotel and getting some late lunch across the road in some take away food place with many saturated exchange students from the rain, then back to the hotel for a nice warm shower and then meeting for a movie. That night we went out for dinner somewhere next to where the Moulin Rouge is situated. After dinner we took the subway into town and watched the fire works over the Eiffel tower. This was one of the most amazing things I have ever seen. I couldn’t help but smile that entire night.

Scary french men...

Day 15, Paris

In the morning we had a tour of Paris, all the landmarks and what not. Then free time for whatever in the afternoon. In our free time my friends and I decided to go to Notre dame, The Louvre and then, the best thing all euro tour, we made our way to a bakery near the Eiffel tower, bought some baguettes and made our way to the Eiffel tower… What was in store next? JUST A BAGUTTE FIGHT IN FRONT OF THE EIFFEL TOWER!!! :) we got out our baguettes and started hitting each other and throwing them at each other on the grass in front of the Eiffel tower! This is one thing i have wanted to do since I knew we where going to Paris, and now, I found people (exchange students, Australian, Canadian and New Zealand) to take on this baguette war with me. There where so many people laughing at us, but I can live with that. :) We had to soon leave the Eiffel tower and go out for our formal dinner. After dinner we decided to climb the Eiffel tower… Ohhhhhh, what a difficult task. So many steps! We finally made it to the top at about 11:45pm. We had a purpose for being so late of coarse. It was actually a New Zealanders and an Americans birthday the next day! So we waited until 12 to sing them happy birthday in Swedish and then in English, which was followed by the 2 New Zealanders doing the Haka. :) What a night :)

Eating our baguettes

Day 16, Paris to Remscheid, Germany

It was now pretty much the end of euro tour.  We where on our way to Germany to spend one last night together before going home to Sweden. On our way to Germany we went through Belgium. We stopped in Brussels and went shopping, ate the best waffles and the best chocolate! And of coarse looked at some of the beautiful buildings. We came to Germany in the evening ready for our last dinner with everyone. We all got dressed up and came together and ate. After we ate some of the exchange students decided to put on ‘The Euro tour Awards 2010’ . It was so much fun! After the awards we put on some music and danced the night away. :)

Day 17, Remscheid to Malmö, Sweden…

Back home. The last day. We took the ferry from Germany to Denmark then back to Malmo we go... As we where on the bridge from Denmark to Sweden we had the first announcement from our bus driver. He said something like

‘Hello, this is your captian speaking... NOW! I just wanted everyone to look back and see if you can see what I do... 17 days of memories.’

That trip was the most fun experience I have had in a very long time. It was full of laughing, doing things I never thought I would, meeting people from all around the world and all whilest going through 7 different countries!

This was deffinatly an experience of a lifetime.  AND IM ONLY 16!

Untill nextime,
Crystal Holt
